Creative Tools for Healing

I offer a unique online therapy experience that can help you navigate the complexities of your family and relationship dynamics.

Creative therapy is about letting you focus on your own perceptions, imagination, and feelings. I will encourage you to create art that expresses your inner world more than making something that is an expression of the outer world.

Through working creatively, I will support you to understand yourself better, help you to process feelings and make positive changes in your life.

The creative process to help you explore self-expression and, in doing so, find new ways to gain personal insight and develop new coping skills.

It’s also to help you explore emotions, develop self-awareness, cope with stress, boost self-esteem, and work on social skills.

Who is Creative Therapy for?

If have experienced emotional trauma, physical violence, domestic abuse, anxiety, depression, or other psychological issues, you can benefit from expressing yourself creatively

Creative Resources

Picture cards can serve as prompts for storytelling. In our sessions I will invite you to choose cards that resonate with you and create a narrative around the images.  I will support you to explore emotions, memories, or personal experiences related to the visuals.

These cards can serve as characters, scenarios, or symbolic elements in role-playing exercises and you can embody different roles, explore conflicts, and experiment with alternative perspectives during the therapy.

Roles Played in Families

There are forty role cards, divided into four categories: Rescuers, Performers, Helpless and Controllers.

The idea is to identify roles that were played in our family of origin, sometimes from generation to generation, revealing patterns in family behaviours.

They can also be used to explore dynamics in current families.

Roles Played in Anger

There are 24 picture cards and 16 option cards. Anger can be one of the most difficult emotions to access and express. With these cards I help you to explore your relationship with anger, including how it was modelled in childhood.

It can help to explain that this powerful force of energy cannot be destroyed, it can only be transformed. The option cards gives a way forward in changing old behaviours into more healthy ones.

Erikson's Life Stages

Erikson’s life stages can help resolve conflicts.

Reviewing life experiences can often foster conflict resolution because to move forward, at times, it is necessary to look back.

We cannot move forward in our psychological development if we still harbour conflicts and grudges from the past.

Additionally, the temporal distance from an event may bring a fresh perspective. Erikson’s life stages offer a framework for understanding human development, resolving past challenges, and promoting psychological well-being.

I use this theory to guide my clients toward greater self-awareness and resilience.

The Wheel of Life

The Wheel of Life exercise breaks down different areas of your life and measures the strength of each. The wheel itself contains triangular sections to represent different areas, such as Relationships, Career, Finances/money, Health, Spirituality and so on.

One of the key benefits of using the Wheel of Life is that it enhances self-awareness. By evaluating different dimensions of life, you can gain valuable insights into your current situation. This exercise helps you identify areas that are thriving and those that may be lacking attention or fulfilment.

The use of the wheel of life exercise during our session can help to improve your awareness which then serves as a foundation for you to create a more fulfilling and balanced life.
