I will begin by introducing myself, establishing some boundaries for the sessions and telling you a little bit about the way that I work. Then, I may ask you to talk about why you’re here and what you’d like to work on.
You don’t have to know why straight away and it’s ok if you’re not sure yet – I will help you work that out.

Yes, before we start therapy a therapy contract is agreed upon. You can take a look at my therapy contract here. It states general terms and conditions - I will discuss them with you before it is agreed upon.
Counselling can be hard sometimes because you’re talking through issues you find difficult and this can bring up lots of emotions. Remember to be kind to yourself and know that it’s ok if you struggle – the process takes time and it’s normal to find it challenging.
Try writing down the things that come up during each section. It will help you to remember what you have learned and reflect on issues that have been brought up.
It’s important to remember that not every session will feel as helpful as others, but that’s ok.

Nowadays it is very simple to communicate online with your therapist. You can use a desktop computer, tablet or smartphone wherever you are and I will speak to you via an easy-to-use, secure service, like Zoom.
Your session will still be arranged in advance at a time to suit you and you can decide whether you'd like to see me via a video call or just talk instead.
Most clients find that weekly sessions are the most effective, especially at the beginning of their journey. Meeting weekly provides consistency and helps you build momentum as you work through challenges and explore deeper healing. However, some clients choose to attend sessions every two weeks, depending on their needs and availability. We’ll work together to find a rhythm that supports your growth and fits your circumstances.
